What it is: Individual counseling focuses on fostering a 1:1 relationship with a client and undergoing the change process together. The goals of individual counseling are different for each person; client and clinician work to develop individualized treatment plans that are realistic and promote problem solving skills and strategies.

 

Frequency: Typically meetings are once a week. Depending on schedules, presenting concerns, and motivation, this can be adjusted. Generally it is recommend starting once a week.

Length: The first session takes roughly 90 minutes to complete. Afterwards, most sessions last 45-60 minutes.

What to Expect: Individual counseling looks different for everyone: there are times you will leave feeling great, other times not so much. Be prepared for an adventure.
