Important Updates on Health Plans

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share some important updates regarding the upcoming open enrollment for many employers' health plans, as well as the Open Enrollment on the Florida health insurance marketplace. Given the current circumstances surrounding the government shutdown and the end of COVID-era subsidies, we are seeing a return to pre-COVID subsidies. Unfortunately, this means that health insurance costs in Florida are expected to rise.

Rising Costs of Health Insurance

These increases are in addition to the typical ones we see due to standard inflation and shifts in healthcare costs over time. Some plans may see premiums rise by as much as 200% to 300%. The latest data indicates that, on average, Floridians using the marketplace can expect their monthly premium costs to increase by 30% to 50%.

For employer plans, it is harder to predict these changes since that information is often confidential. Without action from the Federal government, we may witness a significant increase in families unable to afford their health insurance. This situation could further inflate plan premiums, as insurers anticipate that many will leave the risk pool, making it more costly for those who remain.

The Impact on Our Care Together

As a medical provider, I feel it is essential to keep you informed about how these changes might affect our care together. One of my core values is to remain accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. I understand that these changes can be overwhelming, and I want to assure you that I am here to help.

If you are experiencing shifts in your insurance or are considering leaving the insurance market altogether, please reach out to me. I am more than willing to work with all my current patients during this challenging time. Together, we can find the best ways to maintain your healthcare while also managing your finances.

Open Communication is Key

I am open to adjusting fees and working on a sliding scale for my clients. However, I need everyone to communicate their needs. The last thing I want is for my clients to struggle with paying their monthly bills or to go without basic necessities like food.

If you believe these changes will impact you in the coming months, please don't hesitate to reach out. Let's have a conversation about your options and how we can navigate this situation together.

Conclusion

In these uncertain times, it is crucial to stay informed and proactive about your health insurance options. I am here to support you and ensure that you receive the care you need. Remember, you are not alone in this journey.

Thank you for taking the time to read this update. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
